One of my dogs became blind in one eye due to blastomycosis. The vet told me about a couple that had a dinner party with a house full of dogs. At the end of the evening, they asked the guests if they noticed anything unusual about any of them. None did. It turns out they were all blind. I bet he will learn to cope, but it will be difficult for you in the meantime. 
My dog is an outdoor dog and he still runs into things as the landscape changes constantly. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. Just me.
