five years in the making. No telling how many wheel barrows and tractor buckets of wood chips, compost, manure, and hundreds of buckets of water carried.

today we started building soil in the newest part of the orchard. Cleaned out the chicken coop, rabbit hutch, and compost bin.

Today was a terrible day on the homestead. We laid our dog, Maple to rest. she came down very sick all of a sudden this week, lost alot of weight and couldnt eat or hardly walk. the doc said she had a bowel blockage of some sort. a $3k surgery might have helped or it may have proved cancer. She was almost nine and an important part of the family. A protector of children, snake hunter, and my best friend.

I’m so sorry. Losing a dog is like losing a family member. It hurts the whole family.
