Yes ma'am. Flunked right the hell out.

:D

I didn't do well with public school at all.

And I never could figure out the paperwork to get enough money to go to big school, but I cannot cope with pre requisites.

Also, Judas Priest. I forgot to add Judas Priest to my music list. And Riot. And Rush. Freedom Call. Blut Engel. Clannad.

:hugs
I did awful in math and science. Algebra 1/2 anyone?
But I loved to read!
It was not until 2 years ago we figured out I did not have a learning disability after all! Just a food allergy :th
But I will live with the damage from the allergy all my life. I find I still cannot study all that well.
Nothing will ever work to get me to figure out how to learn everything I failed at.

I was good at every subject.

I was not good at school. LOL.

I was doing high school work in 2nd grade. But since I couldn't speak yet, they put me in all retard classes.

I was, at that time, grading my father's Master's degree level work for grammar, spelling, accuracy, and doing theoretical physics and higher maths with him.

I was doing my brother's homework (four grades above me) and reading newspapers and things like heinlein and tolkein.

But I was in retard class for most of elementary school until I started talking and they let me take normal class level.

I started ditching in second grade, by the way. This only got worse. My dad had to sign paperwork to let me pass every year.

LOL. I could go on for DAYS about my school experience. Suffice to say I do entry level jobs because I have no education :D

Isn't that stupid? A girl I know graduated with honors but is dumb as a rock and can't spell. I'm like you Abi, I have always been well above my level, but I disliked doing homeowrk, instead I wanted to play with horses. My AP Euro teacher passed me with a A+ because I could tell have a conversation about subjects with him, even though I NEVER did an academic paper or test, ever, in his class. I loved that teacher...

Wow, I didn't realize you are that tall!
You reminded me I need to add Triumph to my music list. (Rush made me think of them!) I haven't listened to them in years....

Actually it works the way it SHOULD.

Public school is not meant to give a good education. It's designed to take non english speaking immigrant children and teach them to work in a factory. That's how it all started and nothing fundamental has changed.

Now you learn to be a corporate tool.

And if you go to college, you prove you are SUCH a tool, that you are willing to go deeply into debt, jump through hoops, make sweet love to red tape, all for a piece of paper that says "I'm a four year tool" because people aren't any more educated with a degree than without. The only difference is were you willing to DO it.

Tool!

LOL.

Hoorah Henrietta. I have Triumph too. And Skid Row. and WASP!

Ms Pony, I have had 3 good teachers. One was math. One was history. The other was math.

That is why I LOVE working in the program where I work at school. The whole program is set up for kids just like you Abi! We get it that just because they can not talk does NOT mean that they cannot learn or are stupid. Far from it!

We also take it as a great success the first time one of our "non-verbal" kids gets mad and cusses us out! How great that they have learned to verbally express their true feelings!! Of course then we get all teacherish and expect manners as well. :p

*laughing* Yeh. I'm like that with Auntie's Max. She is too. He cussed me out SO CLEARLY!!!!

The issue is the reality dissonance.

I remember the special school where I got my foundations in education. Everyone else says it never happened. Then where did I learn that stuff? Magically on my own and just made up that I was in a school?

All I remember from public school was horrid. Hated it. And my parents weren't real. My whole youth is a mystery :D

I remember leaving class regularly to run around the building feeling the brick. And if it was too wet or cold, I'd do it inside. And I never was told not to. *shrugs* So wouldn't you think they'd talked to my parents at some point and determined certain behaviors were okay? Or did they just give up and let me run the school, too?

All you teachers here, you can tell me :D Which is more likely? I wouldn't be surprised if my parents never knew I was autistic and it was just me making things up about the testing and special school and special classes and tutoring and psychologists. On the other hand, those could indicate someone knew. LOL.

Any guesses? :gig

I also remember that I was reading and writing in two languages. And half my speech was german, bits of french and russian thrown in, and not too articulate in ANY of it. So my "not speaking" was partly "not speaking english" LOLOL!
