Oh, that look is priceless. "Momma why am I here and what are you doing to me?"

He is very cute.

Thanks! I felt so bad as I left him at the vet's today. I could hear him barking in the back before I left. :p

Yay neuter!

Good job. He just didn't want you to leave him. Dogs do fine with neutering.

He will be happy to see you tonight!

What a cute dog! He looks like a Buford! Wasn't there a Buford in one of Bill Peet's kids books? That's a great price too on everything they're doing. Last time I looked in microchipping it was $75/dog just for that...

I just did dried mushrooms last week. First time for me too! I put them in a lidded glass jar. They smell great! Much more concentrated. Can't wait to try them.

Buford did A-OK in surgery and he's ready to come home. I will pick him up after work this afternoon. :D I'm sure he'll recover lickety-split! I left him a towel from home so he'd have something familiar with him. Yeah, I dont' baby him at all.

Yeah fowl, the mushrooms smell so good! I can't wait to use them. Maybe a mushroom risotto? Yum!

Katie the towel is very thoughtful. I do think dogs associate their master's smell with comfort when they wake up. I've seen it when I used to work for vets. Their own things are comforting just like your own pillow is to you.

we got Dog#1 'tutored' a bit late on purpose. basically we both laid on the floor and cried the day after he came home.. and then business as usual. i dont even think he noticed ...ahem...."anything".. missing.

ps i love that you are the swiss army wife! thats hilarious!

Glad he did fine! I think the towel was a great idea. When I worked for a vet's office we boarded animals sometimes. We had an elderly gentleman who had an elderly Doberman. He went away for a week once every year and always left his dog in our care. What a sweet dog he was too. His owner left one of his old shoes with him. The dog never chewed on it. He put his chin on it and slept on it. When we put him in the run he brought the shoe with him. He carried it like a mother animal with a baby. I'm sure Buford appreciated the scent of home!

My daughter had a dog that would have liked that. Whenever they would leave he would get a little upset. He never hurt anything, but when they returned, he would have collected all their shoes in a pile and would be sleeping on them.
