Finally made it home at 330am today.... after 10 1/2 hours of driving. 2 stops - just east of houston (had to stop for $3.39 gas just because it was $3.39) and then in Gulfport Ms. I am dragging still.

We went to a couple of "famous" Texas bbq joints - YUM!!!

Had a very humbling moment at my nephew's graduation. During the presentation of the The Colors , the Pledge of Allegiance and national anthem, I had the honor of standing by my goofball "nephew-in-law" who served a year in Iraq. It was all I could do not to push people down the bleachers when they kept talking and texting like the loudspeaker was broadcasting the day's menu. Stand by a 20yr old kid whose job was to label suicide bomber body parts, babysit wannabe terrorists and wear tons of heavy gear walking in desert heat.... and then talk during the Pledge.

Idiots.

........

I still get teary eyed about Buford. That photo is still in my truck and I couldn't bear to look at it.

Anyway.... Buford.
When he was just a year old I got an Australian Cattle Dog puppy named Matilda. I took them everywhere with me. We went camping with the family one time and had the dogs out in the boat with us. Matilda swam like a rock - she'd fall or jump in and someone would have to fish her out as she was going under. Anyway, We were fishing against a barge and the current carried debris against the barge and then swirled into a whirlpool before dragging debris under the barge. Well, Matilda decided she was tired of fishing and the debris looked like dry ground so she bailed out - and I don't mean just over the edge, she launched out into the middle of that junk. I was kicking off my shoes and yanking my socks when something hit me and almost knocked me over - it was Buford. He jumped in and swam over to Matilda and got between her and the whirlpool, then swam back to the boat with her being swept up against him. My mom HATED Buford back then and even she said he had knowingly jumped in to save Matilda.

Thanks

I have some kind of "sick" coming on.... fever of 100, no appetite, nausea and some upset stomach. I don't have any herbs here, but would something like Celestial Seasonings peppermint tea help?

I feel awful

peppermint will help a fever....how are you feeling today?

Buford was a beautiful dog....we have labs and they just get way down into your heart with those smiling faces all the time.

Our old boy Tonka is getting to be a touch deaf....either that or he is just so old he has selective hearing :p
