I can't afford it right now unless I skip the stuff with my knee... which I just can't do anymore. :idunno :(

So I am sitting here munching on the little cherry pie my friend brought me back from Iowa. Whenever she goes she brings me back goodies from the Amish store there - last time banana nut bread, this time cherry pie :drool

Bad knees are the worst. Mine have been so swollen up before that they had to actually drain the joint. I was prepared for the worst and at first it did hurt, but it felt SO much better immediately that I would do it again in a minute if I needed it.

We have a while until Spring any way. Maybe things will look better in a month or so. :)

this is the chicken house... it is shameful, probably :hide ... but it is what it is

This is standing on the south side in the walkin door, looking north

Same view different angle, you can see the tote lid on the west wall at the roosts. You can't really make it out, but there is plywood on the same side , but beneath the roosts

This is standing by the roosts looking east - about 10ft to the wall (washtub and cardboard box nesting, and Faye the little EE)

My friend (who helped with the meats) called me this morning. She has 2 EEs she bought the same time I bought some of mine - end of April. Hers still are not laying. They are definitely not roos - no crowing, no roo feathers / hackles etc. They are weird little birds. They have a great coop but they sleep on top of it. Kim had to cover the pen because they stay out there in rain, wind and cold. They get warm breakfasts and tons of treats (I told her they get free room and board at a top rated B&B, why lay eggs? LOL ). They also get, of course, layer pellets, grit and oyster shell. Kim said if they don't start laying in the spring we will have another processing day and a good stew. :p

It snowed!

Well..... kind of.

In a way.

But not really, but it snowed!

It was really light, really tiny flakes that didn't stick, and it was only like 5 minutes.... but it snowed!

(give me a break - this IS Florida ;) )

This is the only real chance we had of "white" Christmas ;) . This is the beach about 20 minutes from my house.

Looks like you live close to where I used to live. Looks like around Gulf Breeze somewhere abouts. (I was north tho and further inland.). I remember my first look at the beach was at night over 25 years ago. It glittered white then and looked just like snow. :)

Ugh I am so angry!
I went to my folks house next door because my mom called and offered me some leftovers to take to work. When I got there my dad asked did I know there was a homeless man kneeling out in front of my yard just a little earlier. I didn't. He said the guy was there for about 15 minutes or so, just kneeling at my fence.
I haven't felt well and laid down before work. I vaguely heard Rags (the dogpound mutt) barking, and I thought it weird that Rio would get on the bed (he hasn't slept on the bed in a year or so)... but I just fell back to sleep.

I asked my dad why he didn't call me or something - he said he "stood out on the porch" and watched. Now here's some info for ya - my dad is 77yrs old and their porch is not visible from my front yard because of satsuma trees and azaela bushes. So I asked again why he didn't let me know the guy was out there and he said he thought it was a guy from up the street stoned out of his head and didn't know where he was. Oh ok... that makes it all better :smack

I am going over on Friday for New Year's Eve so I will have a look around. The best I remember though she had them in one of those big dog kennels on just grass, no bushes etc. I think she got duds ;)
