*huge hugs* I want a sobar mommy :( If you ever want to chat, I'm there/been going through it *hugs*

Ok!! I'm poor as a alley cats tail, but I kind of used my wants well this year.

-kitchen aid. I can use all the attachments for more SS stuff!!
-yoga pants, hate jeans :p
-food processor!!

Now for the "Bad Briii!!"
I got a horsie for christmas this year so I bought him an expensive pair of jump boots, all way around, in navy!! IM SO EXCITED!!

In laws give me a gift cert to the local (haha 2 hours away) tack store, so I will buy this years latest turnout blanket fron my favorite designer. YES, there are "designer" things in horsie world hahah!

BB- I would love to do that this year :) Maybe start a seperate thread?

All who pray--pray for Deb and her husband. where two or more are gathered......
I'm in.

The past three years, all I have wished for is my oldest son to be out of Afghanistan or Iraq (wherever he happened to be that year). This year I got my wish. So now wishing the rest of the men and women stay safe and can come home soon.

Besides that, DH and I don't exchange gifts, but buy something together for the house that we both can enjoy. I am trying to convince him we could both enjoy a grain mill, but he's not buying it. We'll probably end up with a new living room floor.

Oh, and as long as I am wishing, I could use some big jars, too.

... so what DO you want?

When I was a teenager I asked for a new wheel barrow for Christmas. Everyone around me laughed. I REALLY needed a new wheelbarrow at the time my old one had rusted and busted and I was cleaning out the stalls for SEVEN horses everyday by dragging a muck bucket!! :th Thank goodness my Aunt Janice came through for me that year!

Lets face it we just DO not want a new pair of dress shoes or a tie - most of us have other ideas. Things that would really help us in this lifestyle that we have chosen. The problem is convincing those OTHERS out there how important that wheel barrow or 5 gallon bucket can be!

Perhaps this thread can be a go to. A place to send family and friends for ideas. I know I am pushing the season, but this gives us some time to shop.

So here are the rules.

Lets try to keep this list REAL ... something your family can ACTUALLY afford and do.

Tell us what little Sufficient Self thing would make YOUR holiday happy?

Then tell us WHY you need/want the item.

Ready get set ... GO!

I'll start you off.

For Christmas I want some more Gamma Seal lids! The kind that the rim is hammered on your five gallon bucket and the top screws off and on.

I bought a few for myself last year and now I am HOOKED. I need them because I keep finding new things to store in the buckets. For example 50 pounds of loose salt for tanning hides, bulk bags of rice and sugar, chicken feed, grass seed .....

Your turn.
I think this is absolutely hilarious. I was thinking about how I wish I could ask for gamma seal lids, lol. Canning jars would be another one that I'd love to be able to ask for, but the gamma seal lids were number one, lol.

1. I want my 3 year old son to STOP WHINING. OMG. Going to tear my hair out.

2. I want 2 Gamma lids. The snap-on bucket lids are too hard for me to get of so I just set the lids on the buckets. Not so great for keeping moisture or mice out of rabbit feed.

after butchering 4 turkeys last week, i'm hoping for some killing cones in various sizes, a deeper scalding pot, and a bigger/better designed fridge because brining 4 turkeys in mine was IMPOSSIBLE. the fridge will probably be my gift to myself for the next few years.

i also REALLY need some non-plastic, large tins or jars to store flour in. i found a 5 lb bag of locally grown and milled, gmo-free, all nautral whole wheat flour (in a cloth bag, god bless them) at the grocery store the other day and i went crazy with excitement (i bought 5). now i need some jars to put it in.

I'm going to ask Santa for an Excalliber dehydrator. I had a Ronco one I picked up for free from CL, but my car did a better and cheaper job that the Ronco ever thought of doing....
