well it got chillier now so I dug out the crockpot.

found a big old roast shoved way in the back of the freezer....well a crockpot saves the day

that beef was delish!! and I have a big old freezer tub of stew left over for a meal next week.

I don't use my crockpot much in warmer times cause we BBQ alot more. but now with that chill, the ease of a crockpot meal is definitely great!

Easy and delicious! Crockpot ribs are the best!! Not long ago I found a crockpot at our local salvation army that actually has three different size crocks tht fit into the base. It comes in so handy around here!

As long as you're talking crockpots, I have a question about them. Do they normally "leak" heat? I can always tell a temperature difference in my kitchen when the crockpot has been on for a few hours. It's not big, but it's noticable. So - is that typical?

Yes, the heat has to go somewhere. If it was super insulated it wouldn't be as noticeable.

Yes they do leak heat, for sure.

In colder weather I love a warm kitchen. If I use the toaster oven for crispy bread or something then I leave the door open for that extra heat when done...same with the oven. I crack it. what the heck, heat in a cold house is heat

That's right. In the summer, I'll use my slow cooker outside. I love the ol' thing! But I do covet the new ones I see in the stores.

There is nothing better than coming home, after work and smelling dinner!! It takes a few extra minutes in the morning, but boy do I love having dinner ready! Crockpot's rule! I used mine in the summer and didn't notice that it made the kitchen much warmer. Certainly less than the oven would....
