Our Frustrated Curmudgeon
The one I'm using right now sits pretty low. The counter top is hot so I set it on the stove to allow some air circulation.
Crockpots are wonderful for "leaking" heat into the surrounding areas. I love to use mine in the winter, for that extra boost of warmth in the kitchen. While it is cooking my supper too.DianeS said:As long as you're talking crockpots, I have a question about them. Do they normally "leak" heat? I can always tell a temperature difference in my kitchen when the crockpot has been on for a few hours. It's not big, but it's noticable. So - is that typical?
Slow? In a microwave society? :/dacjohns said:We aquired a newer larger one with a removeable insert (casserole dish type thing). I'm cooking a venison neck roast on low right now and it is boiling at the edges. The original crockpots with the integrated ceramic liner wouldn't do that. Yes, it's easy to burn things in the newer ones. I don't think they're designed to be "slow" cookers.
I know!! Wassup wit that!??FarmerChick said:I have 2 also. The bigger one (oval) I don't like. It does kinda burn like Dacs said. My round one is alot better and I use that one alot more.
