Military Hop was the way I did it when I was in the military.....

Might get him close to you for a shorter drive to pick him up..... It might cut his trip short, but hops are cheap, most I ever paid was $45 both ways.

I once was in a cargo bay area with a bunch of MP k-9's that drove me nuts for three hours...

However holiday season you might not get lucky, but I'd look into it right away...

Yep....our best option was Greyhound with a commute for pick up at the station, which is about 3 hours away. Round trip costs $200, so it didn't bankrupt us and the actual trip was less hours than if he had flown in. He would have had 4 layovers if he had flown, but now he will only have two transfers.

I want to thank everyone for the suggestions and help with trying to find a cheaper and better way for him to get home. I think he would have just walked it if we couldn't have found a way.....he is that desparate to get home! :p

I am sorry I wasn't able to help you Bee.

I got lots of answers, and most people wanted to help but were too far away.

Hey.....you were kind enough to try and that warms my heart! :hugs

All I really care about is that the big lummox is coming home and I get to hug him and squeeze him! :D He is very homesick......

Thank you all for your prayers and help and for checking into ways to get him home.....you are truly a joy to me! :love

Glad that worked out for you, Bee. The oldest of our 7 kiddos is my Marine step-son. He came home from Iraq a few months ago, and was able to spend some time with us before going back to Pendleton, where he's stationed. He's coming home for Christmas, but his mom paid for the ticket, so I'm not sure if/when we'll get to see him. I have been amazed at how little help these kids get. They're paid a pittance, and the amount that is taken out for housing and uniforms, food, etc.... I just don't think that's right. Should be part of the package deal.

Yes.....their motto should be "No man left behind...for the holidays!" :/ It's the least they could do.
