I guess the thing that confuses me now is that the process for using ACV appears to be different for all; not to mention that there has been no discussion of the source of ACV.

I had no idea that when I started to use this, I was using "Applecider flavor Vinegar" and not real ACV. Fortunately, I did not notice all that much difference. However, that may have been because I was using the honey to "mellow" the rather severe taste of the vinegar.

YesterdayI discovered a product in the food market in the city 65 miles away from my home which is "real" ACV. It is recommended by the Braggs who are N.D.'s.

So now my question to all is "does anyone have any opinion or feelings as to whether one form of ACV is better than any other? Is it because of the organism that is used to convert the alcohol to vinegar or some other explanation?

Still confused by it all. Haven't had any major joint improvements just yet...

It is my opinion - based on various things that I have read over the years (so I can't cite sources) - that the healthful properties of vinegar come from the acetobacteria that populate it. Storebought "regular" vinegar is, for the most part, pastuerized, and so the good bacteria are no longer alive and kicking; this is almost certainly the case with your apple cider flavored vinegar. Personally, I feel that real vinegar, with live cultures, is healthy no matter what it is made from - apples, other fruit, wine - but we tend to think of ACV alone in this light for some reason. Possibly because in the old days ACV would have been the vinegar most likely to be available, as most farms had apple trees.
As to improvements in your joints, I think that will be a gradual, long term thing, and not sudden.

Weight loss on ACV?? I'm all ears! I've been taking it for about a week, mixed with honey and water (1/4 cup warm water, 1 tsp each honey and ACV) three times a day ideally. I have lost a few pounds but I thought it was due to my not eating sugar, white breads, alcohol or fruit.

Can anyone else tell me about their weight loss on ACV and how much you're taking, how many times a day?

Also, love the idea of putting nettle or dandelion in the vinegar. What a great idea!

Thanks all!

I mix ACV, water and rosemary essential oil to make a hair rinse. It helps get rid of dandruff.

I also add ACV to my chickens' water about once a week; it's supposed to keep their immune systems strong!

Let me tell you my husband battled a bladder infection for over a year. The doctor tried three different antibiotics and it just seemed to keep recurring. We were getting worried about him having some supper antibiotic resistant bug, and didn't want to make him even more resistant with more antibiotics. He remembered some health benefits about using apple cider vinegar did some internet discussions and started using two table spoons in a glass of water. Needless to say we are now believers. Every once in a while he will have a flare up and uses it for a week and it goes away. We did read that drinking it will erode the enamel on your teeth so he uses a straw to bypass the teeth. Don't know if this is fact or not, but it is an acid. We do know it works for the bladder infections. He used the honey for awhile but found it works either way.

My friend when I was a teen had impentago, which is an awful blistery skin disease caused by a strep type bacteria. Her doctor recommended washing in ACV and sure enough it cleared up within a week!

What a great doctor to recommend something so natural! I got it once as a teenager also and had to walk around with sticky bandages on my chin where all the gooey antibiotic cream was applied.

I got it again as an adult not too long ago and used all natural treatment methods and it eventually went away but it was a long process. I made it worse for a while because I put aloe on it. I've just learned that aloe fuels the virus and can cause it to become much more dangerous. Wish I'd known all this great stuff then!

My teenage daughter loves to drink vinegar and uses it on all her pasta instead of tomato sauce. She has the most beautiful skin with very few blemishes. Our dentist did warn us that she should brush well after having vinegar due to the acid destroying the enamel on her teeth.:D
