Are you able to do AI, or does it need to be live cover?

We did AI the previous 2 years and had no luck whatsoever. I hope that Megans pregnancy/abortion is a sign that we are headed in the right direction.

So yesterday I managed to get 2 of the 3 mares back up north for breeding. Carmen was supposed to be in heat and did act like it when I dropped her off. The breeder later called me and said she had kicked the poor stud in the chest, a sign that she either wasnt ready or past ready, which is strange since we looked at the ultrasound and she wasnt ready to ovulate but definitely in heat. So I will be up there tonight helping and possibly putting some breeding hobbles on her. She did have a bit of an incident unloaded from our poor excuse of a horse trailer. I am starting to hate this thing with a passion. It allows the horses to develop vices when trailering and loading, and it is starting to fall apart on me. The ceilings are too low so I always need to make sure that the mares dont hit their head when coming in or exiting, the ramp is about 100-150lbs and a pain for one person to lift and the butt bars for straight loading barely hold the mares in when they decide to try and walk back out of the trailer. That is what happened with Carmen. The butt bar failed and she tried to back out of the trailer while still being tied up by her head. Thankfully I was able to get her back into the trailer with voice commands and untie her. She didnt suffer an injuries but the way this trailer is designed, it is just a matter of time before something happens. I do have somebody who wants to buy it for his Llamas, which would be a much better solution, but the most I can get out of it is $1,800 and a new, or even used 3 horse slant with high ceilings wont start until about 7k. So saving money it is, once again, while I am spending money on breeding, paying down debt and buying hay at the same time.

Before going to bed I melted my wax and poured it into the form. After the last sifting it looks to be about or of a pound of wax left. I took pictures as it hardened, will post those tonight. It is now in a nice square form and I am happy this process is finished.

Any chance you could get a stock trailer instead?

I looked at those too, but we are having a hard time finding the right height. I need at least 7'6". We have 7 foot right now and it is way too small :/

So my beeswax is finally done. Here it is after I melted it.

It's slowly cooling

Here is the "waste" from maxing wax. That stuff works great on the grill to give the fire a nice aroma.

My wax has dried.

And here is my finished wax, not much, but a great beginning.

Looks good!

What kind of horses do you have? My biggest is just over 14 hands. We don't have a trailer anymore so once and a while we use stock racks on the pickup bed trailer. Ohh, the looks we get. Lol
