I'm on the western slope of Mount Rainier. If it's not cloudy and raining (hah!) we drop into the high 20s. it's been an extra wet fall

My husband is literally on the side of a mountain making snow. It's about 24 degrees here, which means it's about 18 on the mountain. Hope for some snow this year...

I do NOT like snow & the cold, feeding & watering issues it brings. Been 2 winters of pretty mild, little to no snow -- couple dustings. Couple very cold nights here of late with below norm temps. Sure hope this isn't our turn for a "hard" winter. Mostly late Jan & into Feb are our coldest 6-8 weeks of the year. But the worst snow storms we've have in past 20 yrs have all been the first week of March. Just not emotionally ready for a winter this year. I don't want the cold. :idunno:old

Moonshadows, did you have to take the pic of you sitting on the porch steps away? You looked so relaxed. LOL And warm!

LOL @Mini Horses. Funny, I was just thinking of how impersonal my new avatar is, so I changed it. This one is a pic of me...from a number of years ago...when we reclaimed the old outhouse on the property by moving it to the side yard. In this pic I had just finished whitewashing it and painting the trim green. We used it for years for winter storage of outdoor stuff. Sadly, I had to move it, when we extended our driveway to our present warehouse for our home business. It weighed so much with the slate roof, I had to remove the slates and the rood to move it, and it is still sitting without its roof at the top of the back field. Another project I am going to get to some day!

Here's a pic of the side yard with the outhouse in the height of summer.

For comparison, here are two pics, both taken in the Fall, from almost the same vantage point that show the side yard before and after we built the warehouse. Unfortunately, the beauty is gone, but because of the hill just behind our backyard, we had to build the warehouse where we did. To build it down in the back field would have cost to much to extend the driveway, and I would never make it up that hill in our van during the winter.

Thanks, Sumi. The land slopes down behind the house to a level field and then back up again to the back of our property. That field was nothing but trees when we first moved in.
