The sky is so blue it hurts the eyes to see it and what snow we have is sparkling like a million diamonds....truly a gloriously lovely day!
Saw three eggs in the nest already and, they must have heard me talking, because one of them is olive green. LOL
Coop is snug and exactly 10* warmer at roost level than our outside temps of 14(weather forecast says it feels like 5). I shook down the snow so that it starts to form a nice bank along the bottom of the coop, which will provide more warmth at ground level in there.
Also spread more dry hay around Ben's pup tent so he can lay out on the ground like he likes to do...especially in this sunshiny day. I'm so glad we made that thing so that Ben and Jake can still sleep together.
This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!!!!
Snow pics!!!! LOVE the snow and tonight, the moon is bright and almost full, so it's casting lovely tree shadows on the snow....wish I had a better camera and could take pics of it. Just amazingly beautiful!
Poor Ben is on a tie out run until I get an additional electric fence around his boundary...he went walkabout during deer season due to his fear of the gunshots and we didn't get him and Jake back for 5 days.
Ben doesn't like dog houses, so we put together this little pup tent so he and Jake could still sleep together, as Jake will not leave his side during his time out on the run. It's lined with plastic, then covered with tarp, got an insulated floor and a deep bed of hay, with hay bales stacked on the sides of the prevailing winds. He and Jake sleep snuggled together and can still view the land from their shelter, so it seems to suit Ben just fine.
I love the pics you post. I like snow-as long as we don't get too much and that it's not too cold! I'll admit to not liking the temps we've had since right after Christmas. I could use a warm up!
FOOD.....that's all. Maybe a little of, "Hey, I like her...she's the food bringer!" but mainly FOOD. He's a neutered male, so that took one of the main thoughts for the day off his mind, leaving FOOD.
Spent sweet, sweet time with my little girls yesterday and today, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather here. Soon we'll have another little girl and then there will be three...can't wait! They are growing up so fast!
We took a long, hot walk out the ridge and talked about trees, squirrels, red tail hawks, and every little thing...even loved on a baby cedar tree. Collected eggs~pretended to be chickens, dumped a lot of water into the coop DL, played with dogs~and pretended to be dogs, built and painted bluebird houses with their fave uncle, Eli, told a million stories, used the outhouse...twice! (Aliza says that's her favorite commode...she can spend an hour in their just reading, not even using the pot), pretended the outhouse was a lemonade stand, took lawnmower rides, jumped off logs, played in the playhouse, and countless other grandma house things.
What a wondrous thing to experience, these little, innocent girls and their imaginations, their loving ways and all their giggles. Truly a gift from God they are and I can't get enough of it all.
