Big step towards our dream home!!!

We closed on 30 acres yesterday!!! There is currently someone renting the trailer, so she is going to stay until we are able to sell our current house. But I'm so excited!! It's an amazing piece of property, perfect for farming & for building an efficient little home. The grass was pretty tall & I wasn't dressed for hiking, so the pictures are just from around the house.

There are 2 more 10 acre plots that have been used for farming (unfortunately the beans/corn rotation). We would like to turn it back into pasture for livestock.

Just a word of advice . . . you will want to be careful about making sure the tenant moves out before you want to move in. Hopefully it won't be a problem, but you might want to ask your real estate agent about eviction law in your state. IF you give notice to the tenant, how long can they stay before you can have them forcibly removed? Once again, hopefully that won't be a problem . . . but I think you might want to make sure you give them notice well in advance of when you want to move in.

Thanks for the advice! We talked with her for a bit yesterday, and she said she will be looking to move shortly anyway because she will be finishing up nursing school. It's definitely something to keep in the back of my mind tho.

That is good that you are on good relations and she sounds cooperative. When we moved, we had to be careful, but that was because the tenants did NOT want to move.

I'm very excited! I think we're going to go ahead & plant some fruit trees there this fall to start an orchard. I'm dying to get started over there!
