Hm, both my mother and I have used bread machines for many many years (arthritic wrists/hands) and never had one die til it definitely no longer owed us anything. My current one is a Black&Decker, I have no recollection what the other models have been (I had one prior one, my mother had 2 or 3 over the years, this is like 20-30 years we're talking here) but they were not anything special or exotic. (e.t.a - my current B&D cost something like $89, not on sale, and that's in Canada where prices are higher. I'm quite satisfied with it)

something that died after just 4 uses I'd be taking it up with the seller or manufacturer! that's not normal at all, unless ya do something like wash the pan underwater so that water gets into the moving parts or something, which I assume you did not.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

I'm really getting into this bread thing.
I'll be looking for the best recipes for grainy breads.
My 1st bread machine was a free gift w/ purchase. My husband bought some type of expensive juicer and he gave me this white bread machine. I forgot the brand name. For some reason, I swore off all bread machines at that time. I never bothered to send it back. It wasn't until I found this site and bread discussions that my interest was renewed. Thanks ya'll!

I have a very cheap, Black and Decker one from Walmart that I paid $39 (on sale)... I've been using it for almost a year, and although I now realize it would have been better to get a few more options I do still love the fresh bread.

Mine does have a timer though, and I love getting the bread all ready setting the timer so that when I wake up in the morning the coffee maker has a pot of tea brewing for me, and the whole house smells like fresh bread... yum.

(The breadmaker is a FAR better bread maker than I am... for some reason I always end up with rolls that resemble bricks.... they make better chew toys for the dogs...lol)
