The MEN article says
We grind buckwheat in a small stone-burr mill, but a blender could be used to process small quantities. The seed hulls (pericarps) slip off during grinding and are easily sifted out of the ground flour.

I had very good luck growing buckwheat.Its a fantastic soil amendment, my honeybees love it.Its very fast growing, and ads alot of plant matter to my organic garden, and breaks down quickly.I plant it each season after i harvest my garlic.Let the bees forage,then till it in.Never harvested the buckwheat itself.
Never really cooked buckwheat or process it..

My grain book says to set a hand crank wheat mill so that it just rubs the hulls off but does not grind the grain.

Never tried it, so not sure if it would work.
