While foraging for morels this Spring we found this little guy in a holler at the edge of a creek in Ritchie county WV.
He is a eastern newt in the terrestrial Eft stage and yes poisonous to keep predators from eating him.
While researching what he was I found the attached below explaining a little about him.

That is really neat. I bet you were excited to find him and get a picture. Isn't nature a wonderous thing? Thanks for the additional information, I have never heard of a terrestrial eft newt. Beautiful.
