nah - I'll take earthquakes over hurricanes or tornados. They only last for seconds....
My intent of the thread was not so much related to living in CA, but rather at the latest scary scenario dreamed up by "scientists". These types of things are usually associated with the idea that they, the scientists, should be given grant money to study the problem.Neko-chan said:What I don't get is people who get their houses destroyed by hurricanes/tornadoes, and then instead of going to find some more sane place to live, rebuild in the exact same spot.
That was great Pat.patandchickens said:Well of course it *could* be. The $60,000 question is WILL it be this year? Answer, wait and find out but probably not
Anyhow, these things usually mutate considerably between the original science and the media coverage, ya know.... and reading this forum one might equally well ask "what will NONscientists dream up next, doomwise?"

I was sitting up working on my computer and I actually wondered if a bear had climbed a tree and jumped onto the roof. That's what a felt ... a big boom and it seemed like something hit the roof. Only next morning did I learn it was a pretty good earthquake.
Sounds kinda funny, huh? But seriously ... we had bears CRAWLING over the mountain, and I couldn't imagine anything else making that kind of noise. I mean ... a 400 pound squirrel?i_am2bz said:Shiloh Acres said:I did experience one pretty fair earthquake there, which didn't even feel like the ground shaking. I had no idea what it was. I've been in 3 (admittedly small) earthquakes...the first time I thought it was a big truck rumbling by...the last time I thought a plane had crashed near the house!! (Really, BOOOOM!!) I'll admit, a bear never occurred to me.
But tornados scare the be-jeezus outa me!!!
