Let the kids help cook over the fire....my kids LOVED that! They always marveled that we could cook a whole meal on a campfire and not have to do any dishes!

Hen, got a stream nearby? Let hubby and kids cook a meal and you go soak your tootsies! :hugs
I think that's an excellent plan. There's a river, a playground, a pool. I'll just shoo them away and do it my way! Hahahahahaha.
Whoo, gettin' punchy. They're cleaning out the car. HAd to read the 7 yo the riot act that this trip is for all of us, not just Mom and Dad. He's old enough to participate in the getting ready. We've been camping every summer since he was two. He knows how much work it is. It's hot here and I can see he'd rather go look for frogs but I'm hot too and there's lots of things I'd rather be doing too.
Anyway! We may or may not be fishing but I do like cooking in aluminum foil. I'll be adding an extra roll of heavy duty foil to my shopping list. I especially like potatoes and other root veggies cooked that way. Carrots get really sweet.

Thanks for starting this thread, I love all of the ideas! Hobo stew sounds great and I love to cook stuff in foil pouches!
