i'd have her checked real quick at a vet; sometimes UTIs actually manifest with poo outside the box, and constipation issues can also make a cat try somewhere else. she might be in the early stages of something, and a vet should be able to either rule that out or treat it fairly easily if that's the issue. :) good luck.

Friends of mine turned a tall Rubbermaid tub into the litterbox for their two cats. They cut a door in one of the short ends but can still fill it several inches deep with litter. It's a workout to scoop because you have to dig so deep to get the stuff that sinks to the bottom but the cats love it.

We have a cat that to this day will not poop in the litter boxes. We have two in a little room with the water heater and thankfully it has a tile floor. She'll whiz in the box, but poop on the floor between them. I guess she just doesn't want to share a litterbox.

Our male cat left me 'presents' here and there for a while after I changed litter one time. Some cats just don't handle 'change'. It's frustrating at times to figure out what they are trying to tell you, huh.

That is what we do but we didn't cut a door until one of the cats got too old and arthritic to jump over the side. We put a small rug outside of it to catch the inevitable litter.

Scoopable boxes benefit from a regular emptying and scrubbing and a daily spritz of an unscented enzymatic urine cleaner. Cats noses are much more sensitive than ours....

We had issues with one of our male cats suddenly peeing in various places around the house. I think it was because we brought a new cat home, because he eventually stopped doing it.

But anyway, something I do remember reading about was: if the cat is in some kind of pain while going to the bathroom, it will associate that pain with the litter box. So, if there is a wound on the foot, and the litter is hurting the foot, it will go outside the box. Or, if it is consiptated, and pooping is painful, it associates that pain w/ the box and will go else where. Same thing with a UTI, it associates that pain of urinating w/ the box and tries to find a different spot.

Hope you figure it out whatever the reason is. I know how frustrating it is when your cute little kitty is suddenly acting "off."

Abi, I use a spray in mine. I get it in Wally World, don't know if they sell it other places. If I remember correctly, it's called Out, and it's not that expensive.
