I've been hinting to hubby about the chickens. That might take a bit. He had goats as a kid, and from the comments he makes, I do not see that happening.

You'll have to enlighten me on fermenting chickens!:lol:

Yesterday I did a batch of pizza sauce in the canner, 5 & 1/2 pints. We had a wedding, so that was all I could get to. We also went to Menards and got some of the "free stuff", as well as their canning jars were on rebate too, so I got 2 cases. We also stopped by his favorite thirf store and I picked up 6 jelly jars for .25 each..

Today I'm planning to do some pickles we got at the farmers market yesterday, should be about 14 quarts of regular and 5 pints of bread and butter. I'm also hoping to see my parents today as well.

Welcome! Sounds like you're well on your way with the gardening and canning... dehydrating, check. Okay ladies, we need to get her hooked on fermenting, chickens and a goat. Not necessarily in that order!

Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures!
:thumbsup

and WELCOME! :)

Sunday I did get my pickles canned and some chili base. I did get to see my parents too. They are in their 70's and I try to see them every other week at least.

We've been pick raspberries as much as possible and I've been throwing them in the freezer, waiting for enough to make a batch of raspberry jam. We have a chance of frost perhaps even freezing Wed & Thurs night, so we'll have to get picking in the evening. I'm hoping to cover what we can, if it only turns out to be frost. There are so many not yet ready berries on the plants, I hate to loose them.

I'm hoping to find a good deal on apples soon. I would like to get some apple pie filing canned. and maybe some apple slices. No one here likes applesauce. I also wanted to do some apple butter or the carmel apple butter someone here was talking about. It sounded super yummy.

I won't get much done today, as I work both the full time job and the part time job today. Tuesdays are the worst. But whatever. I know we are fortunate to have work.

Got the whole family out tonight picking the tomatoes and raspberries that were ready because frost/freeze is predicted here. Then we covered as many plants as we could find old blankets, fabric & towels for. Hopefully we'll save some of the food. It was the most fun we've had as a family in a while.
