Thanks Dawn!! I miss you guys soooooooooo much. It almost feels like I've lost a bunch of family members not being here!! :hit I have been going through major withdrawal not having internet. I'm only on now because a friend is visiting and happened to bring their laptop with wifi! I am hoping that with the extra cash from J's sewing we can get the van running (finally!) and get wifi service so that I can rejoin the outside world.

I had severe internet withdrawl when we first moved out here. Been back on it long enough now that I think I'd be rubber room material if I was to lose it...dang, that's kinda sad, admitting that! :gig

Give your friend a big hug from us for letting you be able to check in. :hugs

Glad you hollered at us! :weee

Don't fret about the garden. A LOT of us had dismal results this past season.

I hope to see you back on here real soon!

Hi All!! Im so happy that I've got a chance to pop in with a quick update and to wish yall a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2013.

I have been catching up on everyones journals and boy have I missed a lot!! :caf

We have made some progress since the last time I checked in

Js business picked up considerably this year for the Marine Corps ball. There were a lot of alterations and he created 5 custom gowns. Word of Js quality work has spread across the base and this year he got many officers wives as clients. The officers wives have a lot of clout with the enlisted mens wives and that really boosted business. It was enough for us to finally finish shingling the roof on the addition just in time for the rain to hit! :clap

We were also able to finally get the van running, pass the smog check and get it registered! :celebrate No more midnight runs to the store under cover of darkness or depending on others for transportation. Speaking of which, the Old Man next door finally let his daughters talk him into moving to Florida to be near them. We sure do miss him, but his health has been failing a bit and hes better off with them. He sure fought them every inch of the way though!! Since he moved into a much smaller place, he was not able to take everything with him, so he gifted us a Sony Bravia 55 flat screen TV, a Kenmore side-by-side fridge (just in time, as our little apartment size fridge was on its last legs), the cabinets from his wifes sewing room (which are now our kitchen cabinets), and countless tools. :woot May he forever be blessed!! :hugs

We lost one hen a few months back, but the other 4 have gone through their first molt and have begun to lay again. I sure hate having to buy those tasteless store eggs! :tongue I cant believe they are the same chickens!! Remember the chicken with no feathers on her back and butt? She is now the largest and most beautiful of the bunch. And shes a real cuddler too! She runs to me every morning for her hugs (and scratch!) and if I sit down shell jump right up in my lap and snuggle in. We are planning on adding to our flock this spring and I am finally going to get me a rooster and try to find a nice Cochin or Silkie and pray that shell go broody!

I dont remember if I mentioned the rich folks up the road with the mustang rescue
Well, we sort of had a falling out with them a while back. Its a long story which I will not bore you with, but they happened to stop by the other day and apologized for the entire mess!! I was shocked! Well, it turns out that they have purchased this huge property closer to town that has a huge greenhouse and a complete setup for pigs. It even has a slaughterhouse and a huge walk-in freezer! Get this she gave us a pig for Christmas! She is going to feed and care for it, but we get all the meat!! And she is giving me space in her greenhouse!! I am taking all of this with a grain of salt as she can be a bit flaky (part of the original falling out), but I am hesitantly excited! Well see

I think thats about it for now

Missing you,

Mike
