Happy New Year to you too, Cheerio! Did you make any resolutions? I didn't waste my time this year - I haven't kept a single one in all my ____years of making them, so I figured why bother?

It was 19 degrees when I went out for last check last night (this morning ), and I thought we were having a mini heatwave :gig Actually, the warm up we were supposed to get never came. I was SO looking forward to 40's during the day, so we could get some things un-thawed and done outside :/

And you had me at biscuits and gravy :drool but pork roast for dinner :drool :drool

Hey SSD! No "real" resolutions this year. I was thinking I might try to quit smoking, but I'm afraid I'd end up in prison for murder! :gig So I think I'll just try to cut back...

I know it's not cold by Michigan standards, but for So Cal it's pretty dang cold!! Leftover pork sandwiches today!! :drool

Quitting smoking and losing weight used to be my resolutions every year! The guys begged me to quit trying to quit, because they couldn't stand me and who am I kidding with the weight loss?! I actually gobbled up LESS junk over the holidays this year because I didn't plan to start yet another diet

Open face pork sandwiches are one of my favorite comfort foods! Geesh, I think I'm REALLY glad I blew off the diet thing, because your cooking is making me VERY hungry!

Pork is by far our favorite meat. I only buy it when it is on sale though (hardly ever), so it is a real treat for us. We were getting so sick of chicken, but now that we have the Cuisinart, I have been experimenting with ground chicken ideas. Made chicken patties the other day, turned out to be pretty good. Better than those frozen ones at the market!!

I really need to get back to baking bread again now that it's getting colder. It's cheaper to have the oven on all day than to run the heater. And now that my girls are beginning to lay again, I don't have to be so stingy with the eggs. I try to make the 5 dz store bought eggs last as long as possible so that I don't have to buy more.

You should SO be my neighbor. I'd trade some pork for some chicken right about now. We have the opposite dilemma going on here. Since we slaughtered the hog, we've had pork pork and pork  I WANT CHICKEN

Just a quick update...

When the "Old Man" next door moved, he let a woman from his church come and dig up all his flowering desert plants. And believe me, she scored! There were a couple of Ocotillo plants that she didn't take, because she is afraid of them. They have huge, VERY sharp spikes growing all the way up the stems. So, we decided to go get them yesterday and put 'em in our yard.

Here are some images of one with foliage and the flower here.

My sister and niece stopped by on their way back to Flagstaff. Sis had to pick up niece at her dad's in Long Beach, where she had gone to spend part of the holidays. Had a nice, quick visit.

Did some quick sketches for the upcoming chicken renovations and dreamed my way through the McMurray catalog last night. That got me contemplating how good the hatching egg and chick biz would be out here. Hmmmm...

That's about it for now...
