Hey don't throw it out, give it to your "girls" as a treat they will love it.
Absolutely! Around here throwing away "food" means toss it in the chicken run!

"J" has issues with me feeding chicken to the chickens. So, I respect that wish. But everything else is fair game! If it's not moldy or burnt, it's theirs!

Stupid mourning doves keep getting in the chicken run and then they can't get out. It pisses off the chickens! I am afraid that one of these times a dove will panic and hurt itself and the chickens will show no mercy. That would not be good. Birds can carry lots of diseases. I'll have to cut some more chicken wire of the old garden fence and try to fix this problem.

LOL A lot of people think it's just wrong to feed cooked chicken to the hens. But my hens love all meat. They also don't have heat sensors, so you can throw in the jalepeno seeds, tops, etc and they'll be fine.

I was feeling a little fickle today! I was browsing around through some of my favorite quotes and the chopping wood quote just seemed to fit the weather and the time of year. I'm a little bored with it already. So, just for you...

So I've been planning to expand my flock of layers this Spring and have been keeping my eyes open for materials to build a larger coop. While I was out walking the dog this evening, I had a sudden flash of inspiration. :celebrate I have a gutted 17ft travel trailer that we currently use for storage. What if I converted it into a coop?! I wouldn't even need to move the existing run. I can just relocate the trailer right up against the run and cut out a section for access. So I went over to BYC and did a quick search to see what I could find. I found several posts by people who had the same idea, but didn't find anyone who had actually done it.

I went out to the trailer and tried to visualize what it would take to make it happen. It's totally do-able! I think I could pretty easily make it quite comfortable for at least a dozen birds. Tomorrow I am going to take some pics, do some measuring and draw up the plan! :ya A new project!

I can't wait to get y'alls feedback on the plan. I'll be sure to keep a visual record of the progress and document every step.

I think that's a great idea on the travel trailer for coop! Easy to secure at night and plenty of windows for ventilation. I look forward to seeing your tutorial!

Thanks for reviving Calvin! Now that's a statement!
