Bakers of good bread have been doing that for years! :thumbsup Some don't even wash the floured cloth, just keep them dry and put into a baggie and reuse them over and over and just add more flour to them... I haven't been brave enuf to try it yet. A baker I talked to said that it was his secret for really good french bread as he uses the floured cloth to form the little couches to put the bread dough in to rise.

I would not use nice tea towels for anything that might stain. Like someone mentioned previously, cheap unbleached muslin does a great job, and costs something like 99c/yard at Joanne's. I intended to cut out squares, and hem them nicely .... but somehow that never happened. The squares I have get tossed in with the white wash, and come out kind of ravelled along the edges, but don't seem to get worse with subsequent washings, so I don't worry about it. I have several yards stashed, and just cut a new square when needed.
