Almost Self-Reliant
Well this isn't exactly from scratch, but it's cheap and delicious.
I was buying dried beans at Wally World today, and I saw a bag of "Cajun 15 bean soup", and it was cheapo, so I bought it. I cooked the beans alone for an hour, then added a can of diced tomatoes, sauteed onions and garlic, and 1 lb of turkey sausage.
Their "seasoning packet" wasn't Cajun enough for us, so I crushed up a few dried chilis from my stash. That made it just right.
I served it with shredded cheddar, a dollop of sour cream, and Freemotion's crackers.
J declared it an epic win, so I guess we'll be doing this one again.
Total expense, about $6, and we'll get at least 4 dinners for two out of the pot. Good stuff
