Corn is a commodity that makes lots of money for some people (not the farmers!). It's pushed into all different forms, put into all kinds of prepackaged foods, read The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Poulan to get a really good overview of what corn means to the food supply in this country. The book is a true eye opener. I've got In Defense of Food, his next book, upstairs and really do have to get to reading it. His writing is very informative, engaging, thought provoking - if you are truly concerned with what you eat you really should read those two books.
