I hope it doesn't come up too big here.. and I'm ashamed to say that it still needs another layer but I just this fall got the extra material to finish it and then it got cold so now it is my next spring project.. I have baked bread in there but only one at a time. without the insulating layer it just doesn't stay hot for the time needed for more than one loaf.

and it makes killer pizza and pita bread

Nice oven Emerald, I am considering making one. But I don't have much spare time to tackle a project like that. Did you use sand to form your oven?
My daughter was preggers with my first grandchild and I had an empty sandbox so we just bought about 6 bags of good play sand and made the form and then pulled it out and put it in the sandbox! I now have two grand babies and they both play with the sand in the sandbox and they love the pizza out of the oven.
My last layer is gonna be perlite and clay to help make it much more insulating and hold the heat better. Hubs will then have to make me a nice door for it tho. we are just using a board that I soak in water right now.. I've burned my fingers a few times dorking around with that board.
