@porch great job on garden! Inspiring.

I might get the last container of garlic planted today. Plan to mow the big garden area...grass needs a little more dry time. 😕 Need to take a package to USPS so, do that now, while waiting.

Chores done. 2 sickly buckings medicated & penned. Breakfast was at 5 am, so I'll be getting a snack to hold me till lunch 🙄. DS sick (cold?) 2 days, so been giving meals & doctoring him. I'd say he's better, just had his grumpy self gruffly talk to me -- my momma bear self growled great displeasure in my reply !!! 😡 Slammed door to his apartment & let him think his mistake over for a while.

Lovely weather -- I'm working off my list today. :old

FB and I went on a orchard tour deep down in southern IL. We weren't impressed honestly, it wasn't really a tour but more like buy our peaches and apples. I even asked if I could purchase some scion wood late winter. I got a blank look and the orchard owners, which had no idea what I was asking for. So we didnt buy any fruit and baled out early and went into a small town a little further south.

I almost brought this home, because it's cool. But I have too many projects already.

There's about a 15 mile stretch of oil and chip road to get there. That the only road in and out of the town. Oil and chip is just that, they throw down some chips (crushed pea gravel) and then coat it with oil. No painted lines on oil and chip and it's bumpy and uneven as all get up.

I honestly don't know what's up with that road but I got a weird evil feeling driving it, and same feeling again going back home. Something just ain't right down through there. FB had GPS up, GPS said speed limit was 65MPH. I said what? thats crazy talk. 35 max is all I could drive on that road. Narrow, curvy as all get up, no street lights, no shoulders with cliffs and no guard rails. Not a mountain road persay but still cliffs tall enough to seriously get hurt on 😳

The oil is to keep dust down. That's how a large amount of the county roads were where I grew up when I was a kid. Most are paved now because of semi's hauling produce. The state also banned using the oil.

Daylight cometh. 😁 both goats & DS better after meds. Few more days of doctoring.

Warming for a couple days. The last hoorah of late summer. Then flannel lined jeans & jackets will be my BFFs. I hate cold. Been getting up to a chilly house, not liking it. Need to get the room heater out for a month or so, to use for a couple hours in morn.

Hot tea this morning. Thinking oatmeal would be nice now. Hmmmm

Good morning
up at 5 fire going, its a chilly 43 out and cool in the house.
@Mini Horses yes the mowing! 🙄 I forced myself to go out and get the yard and around the garden don at 2:30. The grass was as dry as it was going to get and we have rain the next 3 days.
So, now that thats done. I need to get the shop vac out in the coop🐓🐓 and get the walls and celling 🧹dusted. All that dirt will become moist over winter and MOLD. the man with the saw mill did not cut boards all summer so no wood chips for the run. I dont know how many bails it will take to layer the run🤔, probably to many, like 12 💲💲
I will google woodchips and see what I find.
so,, it must be coop day 🤗 no 🪣mopping,, yet.

Yesterday, I had to go in for thyroid blood work. From the lab we could see all of the olympic mt's, is snowed sunday night, it looked beautiful.
We made a few stops on the way home.
I worked on todays bible study. In between we hung some solar lights on the front porch. One of the porch light fixtures has not been working and we needed light to safely see stepping off the porch.
THEN DH worked on emptying the old truck toolbox. When he was done we took the canopy off the old Ford. I finished my study work, and holy cow it was 4:30BAM!💥💥 where did the day go,
made dinner, cleaned the kitchen, and went to bed at 8:30.

I love my old truck, a lot of memories , "he" is like an old friend.

@The Porch maybe there another sawmill or wood worker?

One year I got my wood chips from a woodworker (i asked him what kind of wood he uses, since not all wood is safe for chickens).

And I used to get woodchips from a timber framer.

Maybe it is worth it to ask around.

thank you! I will look there
