I have found my farm. They accepted my offer yesterday, going today at 12 noon to sign papers. There is a new covered front porch that doesn’t show in pictures. Also an added on utility room that is plenty big. No barn, but I can handle that. I’ll need to put up some fence before moving sheep and dogs. It’s fenced for cattle, sheep and dogs can walk through it.

Tentative closing is April 24. I’m scheduled for knee replacement surgery on July 19, thinking I’ll move it to mid August to give me time to get moved. Then go to rehab for 2 weeks, then go home to my farm!

I wasn’t looking for another double wide, but I sold a double wide on 8 acres, buying a double wide on 25 acres, and I’ll have money left over. House is in good shape, I don’t have to fix ANYTHING. It’s been very well kept. I’m going to paint the walls and ceiling, but that’s all.

25 acres of GRASS for my sheep and maybe I’ll get horses again.

Incredibly exciting!

Since it has cattle fence... does that mean you will NOT have to put in any posts? Just stretch fence?

There are some posts that will need replacing. A line will be surveyed across a pasture and a new fence will have to be built. But for the most part, I can use the posts already there. Plus clean fence row. My NOT favorite thing to do.

it is cold and slippery out. lots of accidents shown on the news, glad my commute is down the stairs and out to the front room. Not much going to happen today outside but we have an alteration appt for my youngest and her First Communion Dress and then she has gymnastics tonight (wish we could find a gym that is closer but sometimes the 25 min drive is ok). Going to make some bread and probably a couple hotdishes to freeze so when it is nice the next week (in the uppers 40s and lower 50s) and I am spending all my time outside we can do some heat and eats!

Anyone ever shop from Swanson Vitamins? Looks like they have a lot of natural and allergy free items. Just wonder how the products, shipping and customer service are, if anyone has experience with them.

No experience with them. I look for palm free products because https://www.worldwildlife.org/industries/palm-oil

Anything with stear- in it is likely from palm. (Can be coconut, you can contact manufacturers to find out), so magnesium stearate and stearic acid are no-go for me.

Nutricost brand rarely uses stearic acid/stearate. Garden of Life brand is excellent depending on food allergies (contains raw apple, for example). Double Wood has some good ones too.

Watch your doses, a lot of supplements are over the tolerable upper limit and can cause problems.

Also watch the forms of vitamins because they may have different effects. E.g. magnesium citrate causes diarrhea, magnesium malate does not. Allithiamine/TTFD (vitamin B1) increases GI motility, while benfothiamine and thiamine hydrochloride (other forms of vitamin B1) do not.

Fun Morning.

I watched a plant foraging zoom thing... from over there at the Cado mounds in East Texas.

So... Mullien... chop it up, put it in really strong vodka, and 6 weeks later start using it. A dropper full at a time. It is for cough and breathing issues.

Also, super surprise to me... redbuds! You can eat the blossoms and the peas they make. Raw in salads.

Also.. that yaupon holly that grows all over... yes the berries will make you barf...BUT the leaves have caffeine!

Take the leaves, dry them in the oven (the heat helps activate the caffeine... but you could probably also use the hot metal roof and a window screen method)... then the dried leaves use just like tea leaves. About 1/3 the caffeine as a cup of strong dark coffee bean coffee... but... free and local!

They recommended the website:

Great fun!
