Checked very wet grass...rain last night but, only 1/4 inch. Stopped about 6am. Overcast will hang until noon probably. Boring! Coffee give me energy! 🤣

Finally put some eggs under 2 broody hens yesterday. They wouldn't break up, might as well. Don't need the chicks but sure didn't need more eggs in frig either! Of course, eggs keep coming. Spring -- the time of plenty! And overload 😵‍💫🤣

No matter what else --- I WILL get garden tilled and planted this week. No rain, all week. It must get done!! :old plants to get in the ground, potatoes sprouting heavy, seeds everywhere....MUST till & plant. :rantI will, I will...I have to!! 🤞👍

How many did you buy??

Offer to take ALL for a discount??
Not a single one, priced per stink bomb. Meatbird feed is still $22.00 a 50 lb sack. I bought enough feed for our chickens/ducks/turkeys/cattle for a little over a week. If those CCX are still there next week, I'll pass. If they are still there after two weeks, then maybe. If after three weeks, I'll buy them. Let RK feed them a few weeks, then they might be worth it, to me.

Today I was watching a pair of purple martins swoop into the cattle corral. I thought they were gonna hit the side of the barn, but nope they can turn on a dime. What amazing flight ability if you think about it. Brake and turn 180 mid flight. I watched a little while they kept flying to the same place near the roof and the barn wall. I'm pretty sure there is a nest up there, on a wooden ledge I left when we put the tin roof on. But I'm not even going to climb a ladder to peak at it. I might disturb something, I should leave alone.

But this evening, I went to go put the chickens up. But they wouldn't go in the coop. I already know what this means... They have an unwelcome visitor in the coop. Yep sure enough it's another phew 🙄. Phew is gone with NO fragrance remains this time. That's phew #4, so far this year. Neighbor called and asked what it was? Farmbabe told her, another skunk 😂

Coffee is ready. Coyotes were real close last night, dogs woke me up twice. I went out on the front porch and yelled Good dogs! I loudly praise the dogs and it makes the coyotes shut up. I was up twice, and again before 5:00 this morning. I hate coyotes.
I got 10 chickens to slaughter today. My magic number seems to be 4. I can scald and pick 4 before they cool off and get hard to pick. Then I gut and clean them. So it will be 4, 4, then 2. I’m already tired.

Hot coffee and roosters singing. Thinking I might go pull a stretch of old fence off the posts and get it smashed into a chunk for the dump. Then I can mow the growth crap, check if any posts need pulled and moved -- t-posts -- to be ready for the new fence. 🤔. Do I want to do that today? Not really 😋. Will see how I feel after breakfast. Sounds unappealing at the moment. 🤣 It's on my list, so 🤷
