Don't need to dry them for chickens. Pop em in the freezer overnight and give them to the little velocirapters next day (beetles wont escape). My chickens loved them. Occasionally some shiny beetle shell showed up in the eggshellif the infestation in your area is bad enough you could probably get a net positive return because of the nutrients you are collecting in the bins that can go into the compost (or be buried right in the gardens). also perhaps once dead and dried they could be used a chicken feed? i have no ideas if chickens would eat them or not, but i think they would as it seems they'll eat about anything...
from reading along it looks that the lures are reasonably priced. i'd never gotten into this bad enough that i looked up the price. i pick them off by hand here and usually the damage is not too bad, but some seasons are worse than others.
