Tank has been demoted, he's now office assistant. He wanted to adopt all the neighborhood dogs. I wouldn't mind that, but the neighborhood dogs already have owners.

Coffee is ready. Yesterday was sunny, today is sunny. Tomorrow the storms return. Thursday and Friday, storms and more rain. I hope I can get my car out today. I’m real tired of being stuck at home, and can’t get out. If I can get my car out before the storms, I’ll leave it at a friend’s house and drive my mule the 2 miles to the paved road to my car. It’s so wet and soggy that I can’t do much outside. I want to be able to leave, go to town, maybe go see my sister.

I have collars for my dogs. Hermes has needed to be zapped a few times. Ares got zapped once and hasn't needed it again. Just the buzz is enough for anything with him.

They have both been taught that a buzz means stop and come here. Works well when they are off somewhere and I need them to come in.

Zaps are to stop them from say chasing a chicken, leaving the property, or chasing a deer or elk. Have to dial in the proper amount of zap for each dog because they all react differently.

Hermes will ignore it until I turn it up really high if he really wants to be a jerk to something. He's very reactive. Less so over time since we've had Ares.

Ares got zapped on 2 (I barely felt it on my wrist) and acted like I was killing him. He also acts like he's going to be murdered when it buzzes, though.

I had collars for Athena and Zeus but over time didn't need one for Zeus. Athena needed it for several years because of her need to remove the deer and elk from the front of the property.

Today is the first round about of the property without a leash. Both of us need to be trained and that's the truth :) We'll train more and more each day until no leash is needed anymore. Except for maybe when we go to town or something.

His collar has a vibrate and tone together, that's all it took after a verbal "Tank Come" to turn him around and come to me from running off with my neighbors black lab mini or minnie.

I've only hit him on 3 of 7 one time, since I started using the collar saturday evening. That was nessary as per the collar directions to get his reaction setting. So far, It seems the vibration/tone (V/T) setting is all that's needed to get him to stop or come. Which I find to be pretty amazing actually.

The collar itself is waterproof and has a low/med/high or mild, moderate, stubborn setting. I have it set to medium or moderate, because he didnt react at all to 7 on the low/mild setting, again per the directions.

I take the collar off of him for bed time and charge the collar and remote overnight, it comes with a charger also. It's a great training collar, I highly recommend it even after just using it a few days.

My neighbors have the same collars for their labs and recommended it for tank. I'm glad I got one for him.

P.S. the collar goes for $180 at the farm store, but you can find them new on ebay for a little more than $100 including free shipping to your door 👍

I have Fatear collars. $30. Waterproof and half mile range. Smaller collar so good for smaller dogs. Ive been happy enough with them. Ares doesn't need it much anymore. Hermes had buried one remote and chewed up the other. He knows what it is so just threatening him with the remote works even if hes not wearing the collar.

Cant remember what we had for Zeus and Athena. They were much bigger ones that were marketed for hunting dogs

Tank has done so well off the leash, with the training collar, I haven't put him back on the leash at all this evening.

Earlier this evening about dusk, while watching COW TV he pointed at something, I couldnt tell what it was at first. Then he took off in high gear, it was a rabbit, I said "Tank Come!" he kept running. I hit the V/T on the remote and then said Tank Come again but more stern this time, he stopped and came back and sat down right next me. I told him he was a good boy, petted him and ruffled up his face which he really likes.

I'm pretty confident when I say without the training collar, I might have found him in the next county . I know he would have chased that rabbit for all it was worth. Perhaps I got this collar at just the right time for both of us, IDK... But I do know we will learn together.

Good morning everyone! 😁

Have job work today -- then a day home tomorrow for my garden. Yah!! Moved a job to Sat, when it's gonna rain again-- most all day!😞-- so I could have a good weather day here. Worth much more to me than their $$. 🤣 Want to finish planting. Otherwise there won't be a canning season 😉🤣😋

I keep saying "retire" but then I'd have a problem with what to do in rainy season. 🤷😂

A great training tool for outdoor dogs. I loved mine.

I had a heeler/catahoula cross that would just look at you before he realized WHY he was getting shocked. You could watch the muscles tighten then yell and again and he'd come looping back.
