Might I suggest looking at the Christian apparel shops. The ones who are always looking for “brand ambassadors” to see what’s already been done/get some ideas of what works. It's version 1, cheap jacket, proof of concept. Yes you can air brush fabric and even over the zipper as long as you protect the steel part of the zipper from paint. Designs/scenes will be all one of a kind.
The next question... Do you think there is a business model for Spiritual themed air bushed outer wear?
Jesus is Lord and Christ
I looked into the apparel of one of those businesses, LG....did you? One going out of business showed models in extremely short cut off jean shorts and the shirts, with "Christian" logos and sayings on the front, were VERY low cut, very immodest in all ways. Many of the shirts were provocative, sexy in nature and no different from the same type of clothing you'd see that didn't have a "Christian" label...they could very well have said "Juicy" or "Bad Girl" on them. While there may be a growing market for Christ based apparel, I think the market may be pretty much saturated. It would be fine as a hobby, but, I very much doubt that you could even break even. I agree with MB: Take a look to see what is already being done. On FB, I see frequent notifications that this or that Christian apparel business is going out of business.
That's how I have always felt as well. I don't do bumper stickers or window decals, nor jewelry that is considered "Christian". If a person can't tell by my life that I'm a child of God, then those other things will just be a mockery of His name. No, I have not specifically looked at any of those sites. I do see T-shirts advertised on FB. Many are appropriate, and I would wear them, both for the message and the style. I've no doubt that there are plenty of inappropriate messages, claiming to be "Christian" as well as inappropriate design. I expect that there are many companies that offer a "smattering" of Christ honoring apparel, while also offering apparel that appeals to pagans, wiccans, muslims, etc. However, for myself, I do not purchase or wear "Christian" clothing. I would rather that Christ be seen in my action and words than by what I wear.
A old friend up by Chicago set me the photo of the jacket he airbrushed. He's a good hearted man, trying to make a living and support his family. Airbrush work is spotty. He mainly does cars and leather touch-up and repair. After talking for a while he told me he was thinking about doing clothing. I told him If there is a business model, I would be willing to invest. I really don't care if it's profitable or not. Otherwise he's looking to move somewhere where there is steady work which is his preference but his wife and daughters are not wanting to move. No, I have not specifically looked at any of those sites. Wow just the opposite here. Granted I don't get out much, so I can't say if it's like that often or not. But it was very strange to me.Well thats not the case here, you cant get out on the HWY due to bumper to bumper cars, in town it is nuts, Way to many cars here
