Hmmmmmmm,
Having had raised 4 and having 12 GK
My first response to โ€œ it just found meโ€
What found you? And what did you do? ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
What found me? All I will say... It's a purely spiritual thing, manifest in the flesh. What did I do? I resisted ofcourse. However... It continues, and I continue to resist. James 4:6~8.

72 hour survival kit. 48% of Americans don't have one :(. This lady shows you how to build a budget friendly all dollar tree 72 hour survival kit.

I was just thinking about the ice storm we had. The door was froze shut from the outside. It was most definitely safer to shelter in place, than try and go somewhere else. Our 13KW gasoline generator and firewood for the woodstove was a pure blessing. But even then I had to bust and chip ice to get it set up. Food will never be a issue here.

But there were a number of things we could have been better prepared for. You never really know exactly what you will need until you are living through a actual emergency. But there are basic things you should have to survive and make your life easier.

I suspose the important thing is we made it through 4 1/2 nights and 3 days and learned a lot in the process. I'll make sure we are better prepared next time.

Don't be scared, be prepared.

Coffee is ready. Ridgetop from BYH and her husband came by yesterday afternoon. They stayed the night, we had a good visit. They are picking up their tractor this morning in a town south of here. Itโ€™s been in for repair.

shelter, water, heat, light, toilet, toilet paper, food, water to flush the toilets, blankets, pillows a safe place to sleep... living out of a car for a while and camping teaches you how little you can get by on for a while, but it also makes you appreciate that a car can provide the shelter, heat, light and be a safe place to sleep when you can't find a space to set up a tent. if you are in a place with a lot of bears you don't want to have a lot of food in the car... luckily i didn't ever spend a lot of time in places that had a lot of bears that would come too close.

Yep, those trees needed to be gone yrs ago, not built around ๐Ÿ˜ณ good choice.

Up & down during the night....got enough sleep but, broken up๐Ÿ˜ฃ, then DD calls with DGD concerns. Yes, DD, you all leave home -- she's 23, suck it up & stay positive. You moved out, back, in, out, back...and still turned out well ๐Ÿฅฐ. Awwwh. All during my first cuppa ๐Ÿ˜ณโ˜บ๏ธ

Yesterday my DS actually helped with some farm work. Replaced 2 of the big tin roof panels on barn๐Ÿ‘ Been waiting for that to happen. Finally!! 3 more to go...old fiberglass ones brittle, new tin has been waiting. So, repairs & a pile will be cleared up.

Not sure what will be done today. Once my morning spins slow, I'll decide...coffee refill needed!!!
Ya, the house and deck was built in 87, I understand loving the forest and all but trees that are small GROW into big very heavy beasts.
I will ask the guys to cut the stumps low enough to put a table top on or just put planters on them, ๐Ÿค” โ˜• โ˜•
Such a good feeling when our sons come and "finally" help, I know mine is so busy with 7kids, but sometimes I just need so mom time, which I know will not happen. I do want to schedule a day and take all the GK's to the Woodland park zoo, I have wanted to do this for 14yrs and havent been able to afford it.
I'll see where we are a after all the fixer- uppers are done.

I love coffee in my Yetti,, I can take my time drinking it, it stays hot. then upon refill I turn the coffee maker off and on again to reset the timer so it stays on until the pots empty.
I started weed eating yesterday after I got some seed planted.
