I'm one of two assistant Superintendents for our County Fair for the Canning & Dehydrating Group. The main Super asked me to set up a 72 hour emergency prepared table. BUT! It has to be canning and dehydrating focused.

So far I've made:
1. Crisco candles in a pint and quart jar, and a sardine can candle with two tiny bits of birthday candle as wicks
2. Meals in a jar - I've got three bfast made and one dinner made so far
3. I will add in headlamp, cooling rack and sterno, coconut oil cus it lasts for a long time, can opener.
Still looking for ideas.
Fair is August 1st for 10 days.
A soup mix, dehydrated vegetables, vacuum sealed.

Word got out that our Canning and Dehydrating group was planning on a 72 hour preparedness display. We've been invited to the local Emergency Preparedness and Safety Fair three Saturdays from now. I'm glad I got a small start, cus I'll just continue with my Canning Focus for the County Fair and present it at the local group event.

I think I may have the best neighbors ever. the last PDS Tornado warning took out our flag pole. My neighbor said I see your flag pole broke. I said, yep sure did I need to go and get a new one. He said well don't go buy one just yet. Today we have a new farm made flag pole. If this one bends or breaks we have bigger problems than just high winds.

The white one is the broken one (not made in USA by farmer). The 20 ft gray galvanized steel pipe is our new heavy duty (made in USA by farmer) one.

After removing the existing 120 lbs of dried concrete. I sledge hammered the 4 ft long base down into the earth and added 160 lbs of cement mix this time.

Added 5 gallons of water and leveled the base. We will set the pole in the base tomorrow. Pretty cool design though take the top bolt out of the base and the bottom bolt acts like a hinge so you can lower the pole to the ground if you have to work on it.

I miss having the American Flag flying in front of the house, it just doesnt feel right. But I won't miss it for too much longer 😀

That hinge was mighty handy forsure. I started to put the pole in the base myself and got the bottom bolt set. My neighbor seen me working on it and came over. We lifted the pole and get the top bolt set. I could have done by myself but I know he wanted to see what he made work. He left after I raised ole and tied off ole glory. He most definitely thought the flag pole and base design through, before he fabricated it. I'll say it again... I think I have the best neighbors ever.

The electrician worked all day getting most of the list doe. He'll be cack Friday to finish.
The guys did an amazing job getting the trees down.

IMG_7080.jpeg He climbed the tree and lowered all the limbs down by pully. son and grandson tossed them over the rail. He did one tree, then cut the trunk in portions.

Then the tops came down

FB just got home from a trip with her mom to get her DL renewed. I walked in the back door and into the kitchen. She was standing at the counter stirring her coffee cup, heavy handed. Clink clink cling... I looked in her cup and it wasn't coffee but herbal soothing tea blend she likes. The tenson was thick, I could have cut it with my pocket knife. I knew what was about to happen... So I just stood there, silent, bracing myself. Tank must have sensed it also because he laid down right on top of my feet.

Then it happened... she explained the whole trip in detail to me. All I could do is stand there and listen, nod my head and laugh at the right times to lighten the mood. Tank barked a few times during the unloading. He doesn't like it when anyone raises their voice while talking to me. Although I had my full attention on FB and didnt even noticed tank barking. But I had to reassue him several times after FB pointed her finger at him and said, "and you just shut up, I can talk to him if I want too!" :)

Until today... I had no idea you could get from southern IL through Kentucky back to southern IL again twice. Basicly her mom got them lost on country roads and refused to listen to FB and ended up in Kentucky. They got pointed back to Southern IL, only to get lost back in Kentucky again. From what I could gather... it was because her mom refused to drive on non-striped roads. What can I say, she's old and set in her ways. I don't want to say it, but I will, because it's the truth. You really can't go anywhere around here without driving on non-striped roads. We are blessed to have oil and chip roads, let's alone paint on the roads around here.

Anyways FB is much better now :)

P.S. I stive for peace around here. Even if it means getting unloaded on, for the sake of having peace restored, I'll gladly get unloaded upon.

P.S.S. Did you know the word peace is in 400 verses in the Holy Bible? It's the truth. I consider that to be very important and something to strive for ❤️

I waned to add... Peace in Hebrew is šālôm pronounced shaw-lome'. We've probably heard it spoken before, I know I sure have.

I'll spare you any further :)
