I've been experimenting with different things here. We have a 3' round pile hich is held together by plastic chicken wire (hey, it's what we had extra) and also have been experimenting with using the chickens to compost. I have to say that, in our climate (dry Colorado), the least work involved way has been the chickens. I toss a ton of stuff in their pen and they get to work. In summer, I can get two wheel-wagons a month of compost out of their 8'x6' run, more if I can get my hands on more. In winter, I just leave it in. Inoticed that last winter their run dried out faster from snowfalls than any other sections of my yard.

I forgot to mention a few things. Things that the poultry can't process like banana peels, weed roots and shrub sticks get "processed" by the rabbit before going to the poultry. She LOVES banana peels and apple cores.
