Cornish Cross Spring 2018 Cost/Profit/Loss or Freezer Meat

I am feeding a 24% crumble, Dumor, from Tractor Supply. I paid $15.99 per 50 pound bag. Almost at the end of bag #2. The free CCX I got from Tractor Supply look to be all roos, that's ok with me. Roos are supposedly faster to grow out and get bigger, quicker. The chicks I ordered, I can't tell sex yet.

Those 3 wkrs look like chicks with little white jackets on. The neck & heads are still yellow fuzz. cute little things.

They should grow quick on 24%. I prefer ccx roos for the reasons you said the get up to butcher weight sooner.

My chicks arrived from Meyers yesterday ordered 25 CC they sent me 31 plus I ordered 15 White Rocks and 9 Brown Cornish as well as 10 Pan Fry Special time to start raising and creating my own self supplying meat birds.

I worked on chicken tractors yesterday, fully intending to work all day today on them. Uh....Nope! It's been windy, drizzly rain, cold and I ain't interested. The rate I'm going, that first batch will get slaughtered straight out of the tub I have them in.

We just put 40 eggs in the incubator. I still have like 10 CX's in the freezer from last year (forgot about the ones in my mom's freezer!) so I don't think I'm doing meat birds after all!
