“Immunity varies from person to person, and uncommon individuals with weak immune memory still may be susceptible to reinfection,” Crotty said.
Despite these potential setbacks, researchers expressed hope that between the rollout of the vaccine and growing herd immunity, “durable immunity against secondary COVID-19 disease is a possibility in most individuals.”
i think this is has been generally seen via the very few numbers of reports of reinfections as this pandemic has been now going on for quite a long time. some reinfections have happened and also some mutations, but none of this is an actual surprise to anyone who studies these things.
onward ho. hope to see vaccine here soon. already heard from my cousin who is ER physician that they got their 2nd shot the other day. they are very happy and relieved to not have to worry so much about getting infected and can put that energy to better use treating patients. which also has been improving as numbers have come down and the hospital isn't as overloaded as it was before.
peace to all, be well in this new year.
