i think that a lot of the abuses that make people feel like their own country is evil come from this same kind of disconnect. there is too much power in the hands of only a few corporations. lobbyists are going to kill this country
This is where the disconnect is between the people who live in this country and the powers running it. Unfortunately, it suits the powers that be to have a dumb serf-level population. Education is not valued anymore by parents or kids. There is no incentive to better yourself because the middle class is going down the drain, there is very little chance to move up into the power class, and those of us still clawing to stay middle class won't once we reach "retirement" age unless we are clever and careful now. (I don't think I will ever be able to retire and keep my current lifestyle- I just don't have millions in assets like all the retirement planners say you need, and I will never get that much.)

What is this country? Is it the corporations who run it? Is it the politicians? Is it the power brokers? Or, is it the middle class ordinary person who is being manipulated by the government to their own detriment?

Valmom, I agree!

As for me, I don't get to watch TV much, nor listen to talk radio, so I probably don't get to hear or see what you all see. I don't follow politics either, so haven't really gotten into how bad or not bad America is, or has become.

I just know about me and those in my community and we seem to be as patriotic as ever. We love America and living here and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I personally don't think that evil,world-dominating corporations from this country represent me or my community. They are just the leeches living off the life blood of America's citizenry, as are the politicians. That's not America.

Around these parts, America is your neighbor, your friend, your family~all living the same struggles and joys, living this little thing called life.

Around here we don't think guns are evil, we don't find the Bible or prayer offensive, we don't actively practice racial discrimination (though some of the oldsters still have stupid ideas about race) and we are proud of our country, our freedom and our status as Americans.
