I think there was a transcription error above.
Did you mean:
-.. ---/-. --- ..-/- .-. ..- ... -/-- --- -.. .../ .... . .-. . / -... -.-

-.--.

.- .-.
transcribed by hand with my new ham book.

ETA: did you get the pun?
I guess I'm slow...can you 'splain it to me...? :D
Are you familiar with: .-.-.
And then there's my initials: .- .-.

Ok, this thread has piqued my interest. Learning this lingo is now on my list of things to learn. (but not right now--too much on my plate--but def. in the future).

Great to hear this. All SS-er's would benefit from learning the morse code. It will work when everything else goes down the tubes!
Welcome to our wacko world, MTN!

So what is this book you recommend? I have a book in my cart at amazon, and I am waiting to find another book I want so I can get the free shipping. :)

For us noobs at the code, can we play some kind of game, and give us puzzles or something???? The gibberish is over my head, but it would help if we could do a game or something simple to start with. I don't have a lot of time to devote, but I like puzzles!

Sure, let's play!!!
The best way to start is to go back through my prior posts and de-code all the morse code you find there. Once you have de-coded that, send it to me in a PM and I'll correct it (if that is needed.) You'll know if it is right or not because if it isn't right, it won't make any sense and if it is right, you'll get it easily.
Once you are comfortable with Morse Code (henceforth called CW) we will begin to train you in what you have so glibly called Gibberish. Once you find out how easy that is, you'll be shocked!
So for now, just send me a PM with your answer and I'll let you know.
OK?
