Maraschino cherries
Yields over 1 pint

12 oz Maraschino
2 oz sugar
16 oz (about 3 cups) pitted sour cherries

Bring the Maraschino and sugar to a boil, stirring regularly. Add the cherries, bring back to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes.Let cool for 5 minutes. Transfer to a sterilized pint jar, seal and place in a 200 F water bath for 15 minutes, with water level just below the lid.Let cool for 30 minutes and refrigerate. You will also have about 1 cup left of maraschino-cherry liquid that can be used for cocktails.

I doubled the recipe and waterbath processed over the top (like usual waterbath recipe) for 20 minutes, there was probably about a 1/4 cup liquid left I had it with a Dr pepper, super good!

I found a recipe on www.food.com for Homemade Maraschino Cherries without the Maraschino Liquor.
As soon as I get cherries picked, I am going to try this. I am making some Brandy Cherries also, My sister made those and they are so tasty.

Good morning/day everyone!

I tried the cherries the other day and most definitely not child safe!

Also I've finally gotten down to cutting squares for a quilt! :D yay!!!

Unfortunately there will be no fluffles from cads, we're gonna wait till fall to rebreed since we're entering a weird monsoon season and its still hot as balls :'(

Gotta head to work, hope everyone's doing awesome! :)

So on a whim (and a good bargin!) I got 50lbs of fresh carrots, a crate of sliced mushrooms (forgot how many lbs of that! More'n half weren't so good sadly).

The carrots I've dehydrated several loads coined, juiced a good chunk and dehydrated The pulp and I still got a good chunk to go still! Might end up matvhsticking and pickling some as well, not sure yet ha-ha

The mushrooms that were good I dehydrated for later use, but next time I think I'll be buying the for certain good box for a few dollars more for dehydrating.

Also got a big box of kale awhile ago and dehydrated that all into chips for nom nomming :)

There was a big storm awhile ago that tore down the fence at my parents place their renting, so until further notice we've got two more dogs and a pet rabbit added to the household. And the place our grandpas been staying has been giving him too much morphin... He had to go to the hospital hospital to get help 'drying out' a bit. Oh- also our aunts moved down here do we've got her cat and questionably her for awhile as well- good golly everything's been busy busy busy and we're supposed to be on vacation
Thankfully thursday- at latest Friday we'll be on our way to Laughlin till Monday! Woot woot!

Hoping everyone's well and whole! :frow:thumbsup

Well! The end of this year is coming up fast it feels like!

Twinnie and dbf and II went to a butcher class the other day and learned how to process ducks and I will defiantly say- it was much easier this time than when we had the roosters. I also know how we are going to set up for butcher days from now on! (Well at least for the ducks and chickens!)

For the rabbits We now have 5 breeders, though only three are really truly ready for breeding ( 1 female, 2 males) and Twinnie bred the female the other day so hoping for some babies soon!:fl
Speaking of babies our flock has grown by four now!

Fmostly finished the first quilt, needs border/edging but as dear boyfriends job is trucking and he won't be back till February I sent it with him too keep warm this winter. I didn't take pictures silly me

Next big canning project is going to be onion relish! A big ole bag full of it, I am most defiantly not ready for the tears that will commence with them!

As the holidays are fast approaching I've been debating on making goodie baskets for gifts, though I'm not 100% sure what I'll be putting in them yet . Does anyone have any tried and true winners?

Hope everyone has been doing well and healthy!! :frow
