Hello all, hope you are all doing good!

Sorry to be gone for a bit, life hot a bit crazier than the current crazy lol.
Way back at the begin of the year had to put in an insurance claim cause the roof leaked during a storm. Been living in a hotel for a few weeks cause they discovered asbestos in the roof 😱😱

Ended up bv having to tear out all of my bedroom roof and stuffinga s well as our hall bathroom and our carport roof section!

So between that, the last dredges of classes for last semester and the regular day to day it's been buuuuuuuuuusy!!!
The awesome news is They've finally finished fixing the damage, bad news? We'll likely need to get the roof fully redone very soon. Apparently the 'new' roof we were told about is a lot older than it was claimed to be..... quite irritating.

In other news The neighbour cross the way stopped sis on her way in last night and told her it looks like we're getting ready for the children on the corn. She joked round with him a bit and he made a mention of it looking like we're the farmers of the street, mixed feelings on that lol.
I keep hoping people will stop and ask questions on how to get a garden doing and going but I might have to put up a sign to welcome people to ask once the fence is fully up.

Thankfully we've (knock on wood) had no thefts of produce yet. Lots of curious looks and people talking bout itnif some of the conversations with the immediate neighbours is any indication.
I might have to make a bit of cash off my garden selling some produce and seedlings this year lol

i can commiserate on the roof leaking. ours did again too just when we thought we had it all figured out then this big storm came through with heavy rains. *sigh* not sure what we'll have to do next to figure it out. this is a minor thing in comparison to what others are going through right now with the floods and storms so i guess i should feel like we are doing pretty good. and in fact we are.

i hope you can get the roof redone soon and that it goes well for you! yes, it is a pain in the butt. check references and BBB for roofing contractor, also make sure they are insured. i regret paying ours the entire fee until we knew it was not leaking any more.

Hope you have better luck than we had. We bought DH's parent's house in the 90's and the roof leaked in the family room. His parents bought the house in the 70's and it leaked then. Between them and us, we had re roofed 3-4 times (hugely expensive, every single time) and it never stopped the leak. It was still leaking when we sold the house in 2002.

i would write a book if i describe what has been going on here. it has been leaking from the start since the ex-step-dad never built a house that didn't leak. we finally had the roof redone 9yrs ago and that took care of most of the leaks, but not all of them. trying to get the contractor to fix the remaining issues has been fruitless. short of taking them to court they won't do anything else. so we have a new roofing contractor and that has helped but we still have intermittent leaks which have not been found yet. we now suspect it is the vents but not sure. it would take some kind of inspection/scoping from underneath to verify before replacing them as that would be intrusive in either way i hate to do it without knowing for sure that is the problem. it is up high in the house so not easy to do anything. i sure won't have this type of roof ever again. i want to be able to see the decking and edges from underneath visually. cathedral ceiling. arg. too high for me to do it by ladder easily and i don't really want to be up there on a ladder. i'm thinking i can put some heavy slabs on the upside of the vents to block any heavy rains flowing or splashing off the chimney and roof, but that won't be a sure thing for several years as the leaks are so intermittent. we went all winter without a single leak until Monday...

arg, sorry, i needed to vent. lol (bad pun i guess too :) ). good luck with your projects there...

Me to! We still have to get the roof itself fixed, insurance with the mortgage apparently only covers the "inside" not the outside 🙄

sad for sure! house insurance which does not insure the whole house, but then that is often the same for flood insurance, only covers certain things and you have to know your area and the laws... i love the "acts of God" clauses... as the whirled churns...

What suprised me is they sent one recently that said we did not have coverage for nuclear or war. Like uh... what? That's never been on there before
