In this case, the USDA announced a Cargill recall on August 3, 2011, affecting 36 million pounds of ground turkey that may be contaminated with salmonella. But this was only after at least one person died and 77 others were sickened by the contaminated meat, says the WSJ.

The important fact in this story is that the USDA knew about the salmonella contamination in 2010 and did nothing about it. Its own tests showed Cargills turkey to be contaminated with salmonella at four different retail stores selling the meat, and still the USDA did nothing.

and at least one dog. There was a story on the news today about a family that decided to start feeding their dog turkey and rice because she had had several teeth removed and they fed her the contaminated meat not knowing it was contaminated. She died three days before they announced the recall.

So who in their right mind eats raw or even rare turkey? Face facts most poultry carries salmonella. If properly cooked this is not a problem. Even the chickens in your own back yard are very likely to have Salmonella. I notice this post came from a Raw Milk website. There is a big difference between the two products, namely COOKING.

The dog would likely have been fed raw turkey, but the tiniest bit of under cooking, not even by choice is all that is needed to cause issues. Especially if ones immune system is compromised. Over 75% of a humans immune system is centered in the Gut, by the way.
Regardless, the fact that the USDA allows such high amounts, is proof that they are not doing their job.

Also, The Bovine focuses on food rights, raw milk being one of those rights among many others.

ETA I think we can all agree that Salmonella strains are getting stronger and stronger!

Another theory is that the human immune system is getting weaker and weaker. since the system is 'protected' from many germs that used to be common the system developes no natural defences against them. I remember one case of a church supper where one chicken farmer's wife brought diveled eggs for everyone. A few were left over. about half the people became ill while the other half didn't. Actual testing showed that the eggs were the problem. Most people had eaten the eggs so why didn't everybody get sick? Some detective work showed that all the sick were townfolk all the well were farm folk. His THEORY was the farm folk had been exposed many times and their immune system killed the bacteria before harm was done. The town folk had not been exposed and did not have antibodies ready to fight off the infection.

Excellent point!
We do know that "we" are getting weaker.
Dr. Prices pictures of the human structure, compered to today's are actual proof of this.
