HA! I'm glad that I'm not the only one who sneaks eggs into the incubator! Andy, poor guy, didn't find out about the duck eggs until a friend was over. We were showing him all of the poultry and equipment and he happened to ask what the eggs were in "that" incubator. I gave Andy a sheepish grin and said quietly "duck eggs". He shook his head and Eric started laughing. "Surprise honey, we've got duck eggs!" Lol.

Sounds like fate has dealt your hand and midget whites it is.

Thanks to our doctor (he told SO to watch it) and PBS, SO finally watched Food Inc. :weee
Now he gets, why I don't want to sell our extra roos, but butcher them ourselves for us to eat. He is also into getting more birds for the dinner table :ya

And he is willing to try eating grass fed beef and no more of the other stuff. :thumbsup

I have picked up the babies today. I got 6. 2 are very weak. One will be a miracle if it survives. I hope I don't have my first baby casualty.

DH is giving the little guy the magic "hot hand".
Here are the 2 weakest ones.

Wow, what a season so far. Life has been so busy I can't see straight.

Gardens are done, animals are under control (I think), and work is rolling.

Had some time to update pics for anyone interested.

Today starts the new and improved chicken coop. The turkeys will get the old one.

Back in the spring when I was setting up the garden, I cut down some ash poles and used them for the bean poles. Well, the ash poles have started to grow too. So in the fall I will dig them up and plant new ash trees somewhere.

We have had 5 hatches of chicks so far. Boy, Cochins are a broody bird. DH thinks I should swap out the flock for a more productive egg laying flock. Eggs seem to be in high demand around here. AND he thinks I should get MORE birds..........YAY!!!:weee

Well........ that is the latest.

Great pics. Everything looks wonderful. You are lucky, my DH is screaming, QUIT letting those darn birds hatch out. LOL And he is probably right since I am up to over 50 birds. Guess we need to process a few to make him happy.

Summer is definitely gone. BUT......... I am getting ready for next year already. I was asked if my gardens could be on the kitchen garden tour for the library fundraiser. I was quite shocked. I love to garden but I didn't think people noticed. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I realized they were asking me, my gardens.

So I have collected my seed, started the plans for the layouts next spring and put everything to bed. Now to work on the house.

The roof is coming off tomorrow and a new one goes on. OK maybe not the whole roof off, but it is starting. :D That is DH's project. Mine is cleanup. And a bathroom re-vamp. I scored 3 gallons of paint at the hardware store that were mistints for $15. I started to tear down the wall paper today and boy do I hate wall paper.
Here are BEFORE pics. My goal is to do the bathroom for under $100.
