Last night I tried rubbing my head with plain cold yogurt (which I have in abundance) and then I wrapped a towel around my head and let it sit for a few hours. Then I washed my hair as usual. It was nice and refreshing. And so far I'm not itching. But, we shall see....wait was that an itch?....no. No I'm still good. Whew! :D

Since I started no-pooing (curly girl method) I've been having to wash my hair less and less. But, I will say that yes, I suppose I have been washing my hair more recently. Because I've been trying to find a way to stop the itching. Hmmm....I might be making things worse huh?

And I never thought of it being a diet/vitamin issue. Wow.

The tea tree oil and witch hazel I will give a try if the yogurt doesn't work out. But, no matter what I think I'm going to give my poor head a break for a couple of days and see how that goes

I think dandruff is casued by a fungus, psoriasis too.

If you bring your D levels high enough it can get rid of psoriasis and I have done it.

I have also seen MMS cure dandruff and psoriasis.

Homeopathy cured dandruff for me but I could never get it to touch the psoriasis...

If my D levels drop too low the psoriasis starts to come back

I once had a patient who cured her psoriasis with a perscription vitamin D cream. Wish I could remember what it was called.

For Dandruff I would think the easiest thing would be to bring your D3 levels up

Well its been 2 days and my head isn't itchy. I still have flaking but, that is alright. At least I'm not walking around scratching at my head like a monkey.

My daughter had this problem. We went thru a couple of vinegar and lemon juice treatments and switched her shampoo from head and shoulders dry scalp to head and shoulders normal, since the dry scalp seemed to leave her hair a bit greasy. Fixed her right up.

I have psoriasis, a very mild form and my triggers are not enough vitamin D and to much Vitamin D and stress. From my understanding of the condition, it is genetic. My mother has it, both of her sisters and their mother. We all have the same type. I know at one time many years ago they would treat severe types with good 'ol chemotherapy. We had a family friend do this.

I agree with the diet ideas. More Vitamin B and D.

I do have another suggestion as well, much less inventive.

In the winter my whole body is dryer and I tend to get ashy and lots of dried skin. I find that just a long soak in nice warm water really helps BEFORE I start any scrubbing. It seems like my typical shower and baths just don't give my body enough time to soak up the water, down deep into the dry layers. When I soak and then bath with my loofa and deep massage my scalp I tend to scrape off LAYERS of disgusting dead skin cells :sick that normally just linger there and cause me to itch later on. After my soaking scrubbing bath I usually shower to rinse off the last gunk and then moisturize (I like almond oil for the body).

When done I feel like a new gal! :bun

You need to soak your scalp with olive oil, let sit a few minutes, then comb close to the scalp to remove the dry skin flakes. Shampoo as usual...olive oil is easy to get out of hair. It works wonders
