So brined and dehydrated nuts are healthier because they have not been heated, changing the properties of the nut. I learn so much from you. Does that also lock in the good oils and make them last longer in storage? I get pecans sometimes, shell and freeze them. I guess I should dehydrate and vacuum seal them and see how that works.

we'd keep out nuts in the freezer, but there's not enough room for me.

i'm not sure how that would go for pecans, as in i don't know if the oils in pecans will or won't go rancid in deydration conditions. *curious*

we keep pecans here in the freezer. we usually don't have other nuts last long enough around here for them to go rancid, but pecans are used for cookies so i don't normally eat them out of hand.

My great grandmother and grandmother butter roasted pecans in a heavy iron skillet. I learned from my grandmother. A stick of butter, pecans, medium heat and stir constantly until roasted to where you want them. Remove with a slotted spoon and salt them. Pace floor until cool enough to not scorch your mouth and EAT THEM!

I dont think it protects the oils, but it doesnt damage them. I store nuts in the freezer too! We cant get fresh nuts up here. My SIL is from the south and told us how bad our nuts are. We had trouble believing her, but when we traveled south next we bought nuts. Omg, she was right! 😲 they were unbelievably good!

Mmmm. DH likes maple glazed pecans. Theyre too good. Next time I make some I'll add butter for him. He eats anything. :gig

I ate some dairy yesterday. Gained 3# of fluid/inflammation. :gig. No worries, I keep working on losing body fat and the fluid/inflammation will sort itself out in a couple days. Now I remember why I avoid dairy :gig

Yes
Oops - bad dairy! Hope you've recovered from all that!

Yes! And TY. I fasted the next day and was back to normal the following day.

But I did it again today. I had caffeine yesterday afternoon (stupid!), bad insomnia from the caffeine, not enough sleep, forgot my meds in the morning. Sleep deprivation leads to so many bad decisions. 😅 I will be "behind pace" on my weight loss goal tomorrow morning. Will need to compensate or change my expectations.

I cleaned more in my basement today. 3 paper grocery bags to Goodwill and two 13 gallon trash bags gone. 🎉 Did not even make a dent in the mess.

Uh oh! It's hard to function on less than optimal sleep in the best of circumstances. If it helps - I'm always behind pace on my weight loss goals, lol. I blame it all on 2020 - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Good going on the basement clean up!
