I just love that we all settled on this thread to talk about everything under the SS sun!

About the tp switch: I'm thinking start with #1. If I get brave, I may take it farther, but honestly I'd be happy just cutting my usage down and not cutting it outright.

cabin fever for me
Tony and Nicole are outside taking down those Xmas tree lights.

I am inside.

the wind is whipping outside. Barb said her kid lost his greenhouse yesterday....blew way out into the corn field....gon-zo, chewed up, smashed.

Our wind is super fierce right now. I can't do wind....big time headaches come on so in here goofing.!

Oh no! I worry so much about our greenhouse when the wind whips up. That is horrible! I hope they can get their greenhouse replaced before spring!

Did you catch my post about the tp at the top of this page?

I've had a lot of cabin fever lately too. Luckily I got outside to do some garden clean-up this past week. I felt a million times better when I got done. :)

yea we had that great almost 70 deg weather at the first of the year and I got outside and did some yardwork and such. But with that wind now, no way!!

you are lucky you could get out also. honestly it makes a difference to get away from the 4 walls and housework every where we look :)

yea tp on #1 sounds fine to me. don't know if I can go braver than that.............

but it would save alot of paper in the septic and that makes great sense actually.

crazy day today. and to think I have to go fold some laundry in a bit.....stinks but I need to do it.

Yes, only for #1!! But, I figure I am the biggest offender when it comes to tp! With being pg I must go a MILLION times a day!! And the 5 guys in my house don't use it everytime they go!! So, far I do not have DD using them because I am afraid she will flush one out of habit.

Here is what I wrote about my homemade tp in another thread!

I also used the receiving blankets to.....make pink wipes for the baby that is coming....blue ones for tissues for blowing my nose (so much better, softer, and thicker than store bought kleenex)...and then yellow and green ones instead of TP. With being pg I think I must go a million times a day so I am saving at least two rolls a week just using these for myself. Then I just throw them in with my towels and wash clothes. I have a flip top lid that I got from Target that I put them in after I use them. I have just enough made that when I run out of them it fills up the container. I do need to make a few more though....like two more receiving blankets worth.
I also found a pink striped sheet blanket at Goodwill for $2.50 that I want to turn into wipes for the baby. I am thinking that I should be able to get close to 60 baby wipes out of it. I only have 24 baby wipes made right now.

Homemade tp should not actually cost you anything to make. I asked a couple of ladies at church who had toddlers...so not needing the receiving blankets anymore if they had some they could give me. One lady gave me three of them. I cut each blanket into 12 pieces then sergered around the edge. If you do not have a serger just use the zig zag stitch on your regular sewing machine.
I found a yellow flannel sheet blanket...same type of material as a receiving blanket at Goddwill for $2.99. I should be able to make between 60-80 homemade tp clothes out of it.

Thanks for the info, Pam.

HA HA HA. I'm afraid I'll end up fishing one out too. Maybe that's the only way to learn. ;)

I really need to learn how to use that sewing machine! Thanks for all the info Pam. Not that it really matters too much, but just curious, what size to you make your tp squares?
