I'll have to adjust my watering then and see how that works. We kind of have a plant it and see what happens gardening style at our house LOL.
Love this! My son would probably cart them off one by one from our garden, but I'm going to give a shot and see how it goes anyway.

Water well in the evenings when it cools down and if needed, top up in the mornings as well. We also planted all sorts and hoped for the best. Most things worked out well for us, but we had to water so much. That said our temperatures for some weeks on end didn't dip much below 90F overnight and during the day sometimes went over 120F.

It's cold as the North Pole here (wanted to say somewhere else but, it's reportedly fiery hot there!! :idunno) and that gives me incentive to think of warmer chores. The containers of seed were out and I felt a need to list what/where I wanted to plant. THAT led to when I needed to do this and THAT led to how much to plant, when to start seeds for transplants and all those plans we often do not make or carry out.

Looking thru my folder titled "garden", there were pages of notes from self and others, articles I read, info on issues for types of plants and planting and so on and on .... Among this were some charts that MAY be helpful to others with a question for planting, quantity, and so on.

I had downloaded some charts I found at North Dakota State Univ Extension Service. These gave some general info about plant spacing, average yields, length of gestation, maturity, wks before plant to start, storage after harvest and such. While it is "aver" it is a nice base for some consideration and use of our garden space & needs for our own family size. I'm certain other locations may have such info, a nice place to start. Plus Mother Earth News has a huge amount of info for all types of plants.

On this note -- Time for evening chores. Need to go dress out for it and be done. I need an ice cube imogee

At one point today we got up to 2 degrees. It was brief. - 6 by feeding time this evening.

I've been looking at seed catalogs too. Apparently Baker Creek knows how cold it is here, because I haven't received mine from them yet! Lol.

And yes, that picture looks like a lot of us right now!!!

I'll trade you... it was a whopping 7 degrees overnight last night. Tonight is forecast of 1, Monday of 0, Tuesday 11, Wednesday 7, ... well you get the picture.

Where in the heck is Al Gore when you need him? I could use a little global warming over here in Southern IL right about now.
